HackNotice was founded by Steve Thomas, who spent years building threat intelligence at Pwnedlist and SecurityScorecard before starting the company. A phone call from a bank in the middle of a breach was the turning point — they didn’t need another outside-in risk score, they needed to know who was attacking them, right now, and why.

That gap is what HackNotice was built to close. Outside-in scanning tells you what your perimeter looks like from the internet; it can’t tell you who’s coming for you. So instead of just scanning the victim’s surface, we watch the adversary — the ransomware ecosystem, the marketplaces, the infrastructure attackers actually use. Along the way, we found that attack data itself spikes before, during, and after a breach: a predictive signal that outside-in tools simply can’t see.

Today HackNotice is a Series A startup running lean out of Austin, Texas, built on a simple idea: intelligence should come from watching attackers, not just scoring defenders — and it should arrive in time to matter.
